A truly meaningful experience rarely leaves a person exactly as they were before it began. A demanding project, an unexpected relationship, a difficult decision or a period of intense work can leave behind something invisible but lasting, a new perspective, a different way of seeing people or simply a version of ourselves we had not encountered before.
For actors, that transformation can be particularly intimate. They do not simply observe the worlds they enter; they temporarily inhabit them. They borrow another person's mannerisms, emotions, physicality and fears, sometimes spending months inside a character before eventually returning to their own lives.
