Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has outlined plans for all students in England to study maths until the age of 18. He says it will help prepare children for a world where 'statistics underpin every job'.
But many people in Wales have argued that it's better to teach kids real life skills than more algebra and Pythagoras theorem. We all do maths in our everyday lives, from working through a new mortgage to simply splitting the bill at a restaurant, but just how much do you need to know? And do the more complicated bits even stick with you as an adult?
