The star quarterback will lead Texas in its inaugural season in the SEC in 2024 following a successful campaign that saw the Big 12 champions get knocked out of the College Football Playoff semifinals with a 37–31 loss to Washington in the Sugar Bowl.
Ewers’s decision comes after several of his Longhorns teammates—Xavier Worthy, Adonai Mitchell, Ja’Tavion Sanders, Jonathon Brooks, and others—declared for the 2024 NFL draft.
Ewers will enter his fourth and presumably final year of college football. He recorded 3,479 passing yards and 22 touchdowns against six interceptions in 14 games in 2023 and put together impressive performances in wins over Oklahoma State and Alabama.
