Coach Billy Slater has lauded Queensland’s never-say-die attitude after the depleted Maroons pipped NSW 26-18 in a helter skelter State of Origin opener.

With 10 minutes to go on Wednesday night, the Maroons were searching for a miracle, being two points down and a man in the sin bin.
