The search for missing Queensland woman Leslie Trotter has been suspended by police after three weeks of aerial and ground searches at a Brisbane waste site.
Police made the decision to discontinue the search at the Swanbank landfill site on Thursday.
Detective Superintendent Andrew Massingham said the decision comes after extensive consultation with forensic experts and landfill engineers.
“After more than a month since commencing the search, police have been unable to locate Ms Trotter’s body,” he said.
“A team of 10 detectives remain committed to solving the disappearance of Ms Trotter.”
Ms Trotter’s family have been advised of the latest decision over a month after her body was assessed to be inside a wheelie bin on the footpath outside her Maryvale Street home on March 28.
The bin was collected by a rubbish truck early that morning, with its contents later deposited at Swanbank.
