Queensland Police are urgently searching for two men after a woman was allegedly shot dead in Moreton Bay.
At about 12.10am on December 22, police were alerted to an address at Caboolture Railway Parade after a 23-year-old woman was found unconscious and not breathing.
Despite efforts to revive her, the woman couldn’t be saved and was declared dead at the scene.
Per 9News, Moreton District Crime Group Detective Inspector David Harbison said police allege the woman was assaulted and chased by two men down the street. It was during the alleged assault that the woman might’ve sustained a gunshot wound.
Harbison added that authorities believe the group knew each other and that police are treating the woman’s death as a homicide.
“Whilst the public nature of crime is alarming, police do not believe this to be a random attack,” Harbison said.
“There’s people out there who know who these people are.
“Do the right thing, a 23-year-old has lost her life in tragic circumstances.”
According to ABC News, neighbours reported hearing multiple gunshots before the woman was discovered.
“I heard about three or four gunshots and then a little bit of whimpering, and then I heard a man yelling out fucking c***,” one neighbour told the publication.
“[It was] very scary.”
The woman did not live at the address she was found, and it is believed that the home has no connection to the investigation.
At the time of writing, no arrests have been made and no weapon has been found.
