BBC Queen's Platinum Jubilee coverage - what's on TV and when this weekend

As well as seeing scores of people flocking to London to experience it themselves, the Queen's Platinum Jubilee will dominate TV schedules over the weekend, with a whole host of shows in her honour.

Queen Elizabeth II has now been on the throne for seven decades and her record breaking time on the throne is paving the way for all manner of occasions, the majority of which will be shown on the BBC on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The first of the Queens Jubilee events was the Trooping of the Colour which dominated the morning schedule on BBC1, with viewers getting a look at The Queen on the Buckingham Palace balcony, while over on ITV, This Morning cut to live clips as the show played out, hosted by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

The highlight of the Queen's Jubilee weekend, in many people's eyes, is the Platinum Party at the Palace on Saturday, with the Jubilee concert line-up featuring music mega stars like Elton John, Rod Stewart and Diana Ross.

Thursday, June 2

BBC1

8-10pm: Platinum Beacons: Lighting up the Jubilee. More than 1,500 beacons will be lit nationwide to celebrate the Queen's 70-year reign, with a principal beacon lit at Buckingham Palace. Kirsty Young will be the main host, with Jermaine Jenas at Buckingham Palace, Gethin Jones in Wales, Carol Kirkwood in Scotland, and Holly Hamilton in Northern Ireland.

10.40-11.40pm: The Queen - 70 Glorious Years . Celebrities like Brian Blessed, Paul McCartney and Lulu share their experiences of meeting Her Majesty.

Friday, June 3

BBC1

9.15am - 12.30pm: Platinum Service of Thanksgiving. David Dimbleby provides commentary from inside St Paul's as senior members of the royal family gather to honour Queen Elizabeth's 70 years on the throne.

Saturday, June 4

BBC1

11.30am-12.30pm: The Jubilee Pudding: 70 Years in the Baking. To be judged by a panel chaired by Bake Off icon Mary Berry, five exceptional home bakers participate in a national competition to find a new pudding to mark the Queen's historic Platinum Jubilee.

12.30-1pm: A Right Royal Celebration. Tips on how to throw the perfect Jubilee party and recipe ideas on dishes to impress your guests.

1.15-2.15pm: The Day I Met The Queen. TV favourites like Aled Jones, Ainsley Harriott and Carol Kirkwood track down people from all over the country who've met Her Majesty.

4.40-6pm: Elizabeth: The Unseen Queen. A programme which offers behind the scenes looks at The Queen's childhood and early days with Prince Phillip. Featuring insights from The Queen herself.

6-7pm: The Coronation . A documentary all about The Queen's coronation back in 1953.

7.30-10.30pm: Party at the Palace. The one many people have been waiting for. Thousands will gather outside Buckingham Palace to see performances from an eclectic mix of acts, including Queen and Adam Lambert, George Ezra and Eurovision star Sam Ryder.

5-7pm: The National Lottery's Big Jubilee Party . Jason Manford and Fleur East host as acts like Ella Henderson, Steps, Heather Small and Becky Hill entertain at Manchester's AO Arena.

Sunday, June 5

BBC1

1-5.30pm: The Platinum Pageant. A four and a half hour spectacle bringing together dancers, military displays, musicians, key workers and communities. Stars like AJ Odudu, Anton Du Beke and Anita Rani will also bring live updates from some of the UK's best Jubilee street parties.

BBC2

8-9.30PM: Platinum Jubilee - What a Weekend. Kirsty Young hosts a look back at the highlights of the many events held over the weekend.
