Queen's Platinum Jubilee: All the events and street parties announced in South Gloucestershire

Dozens of events to celebrate the Queen's Platinum Jubilee have been announced for the Bristol region.

South Gloucestershire Council has released a list of 33 local authority-funded festivities which will take place from Thursday, June 2, to Sunday, June 5. The actual date of the Platinum Jubilee, which celebrated the monarch spending 70 years on the throne, was Sunday, February 6.

But a bumper period of celebration is set to take place this summer, and the government have announced a four-day weekend with two bank holidays on Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3. South Gloucestershire Council has handed out £50,000 to fund celebrations in honour of the Queen, all of which will be held by town and parish councils, community groups and charities.

The council's cabinet member for public health and equality of opportunity, Cllr Franklin Owusu-Antwi, said: “The Jubilee is a remarkable milestone in the Queen’s historic reign and it is great to see so many people across South Gloucestershire wanting to celebrate it with their communities this summer. I am delighted we are able to support so many local events like street and garden parties, fetes, picnics and festivals which will really bring people together, and I know many residents are looking forward to enjoying the festivities.”
