The glasshouse in Glasgow's Queen's Park is due to reopen in 'the coming weeks', council chiefs have confirmed.
Glasgow Live reported that the famous, south side structure was closed to the public until further notice in 2017 due to safety fears. Its dome was then dismantled in August 2020 'to preserve it', while long-term plans were 'developed'.
Locals raised concerns about the B-listed building's future after rumours circulated it was due to be demolished.

On Friday Glasgow City Council spokesperson revealed that while 'some remedial work' is still required the glasshouse will reopen within weeks.
A council spokesman told Glasgow Live:“The gardens were within the cordon that was established after serious safety concerns were identified with the dome above the glasshouse. The dome was safely removed but the cordon remained in place over the course of the pandemic.
“Some remedial work is still required on the glasshouse but it is hoped that it will be able to reopen in the coming weeks.”
In the wake of its closure in 2020 a petition was launched for the funding of a 'full restoration' by GMB Union Branch 29.
A petition statement released at the time read: "Queen's Park glasshouse has been underfunded and left to fall into a state of disrepair. The local council are supposed to be custodians of Glasgow's historic architecture and should be properly funded to preserve and maintain these vital buildings."
Over 1,700 people signed the petition. Its target was 1,500.
