Queen's Park friendly with FC Utrecht delayed over pyro display as Spiders defeat Eredivisie outfit

Queen's Park picked up a stunning pre-season victory over Dutch top flight club FC Utrecht - but the game was delayed after a pyro display from the home fans early on.

The match was halted momentarily after just ten minutes as supporters of the Eredivisie outfit set off flares with a thick cloud of red smoke filling the air and working its way across the pitch. Video footage shows the scenes at the training ground with the fans setting off fireworks and in full voice.

However, come the end of the match they were silenced as Owen Coyle's Championship new boys ran out 4-2 winners to round-off their pre-season camp in the Netherlands on the ultimate high. FC Utrecht had a familiar face playing for them with Celtic loanee Vasilis Barkas handed a start in the pre-season showdown. A Simon Murray double and goals from summer recruit Grant Savoury and a trialist sent the Spiders home with a major confidence boosting win ahead of their campaign in Scotland's second tier.
