Queen's granddaughter Lady Louise Windsor pays subtle tribute with pendant at vigil

Lady Louise Windsor's touching tribute to her horse-loving grandparents was caught on camera.

As the 18-year-old walked through Westminster Hall to stand at a vigil for Her Majesty the Queen, alongside the Queen's other grandchildren, a special pendant she was wearing was spotted.

The horse pendant she wore with a black mourning dress and hat was a nod to the late Queen and Duke of Edinburgh.

Lady Louise shared a love of horses with her grandmother, even inheriting Prince Philip's beloved horses and carriage after he passed away in 2021.

The teen was dressed similar to her cousins, all in black, except Prince William and Prince Harry who donned military uniform for the event.

The daughter of Prince Edward and Sophie, Countess of Wessex, could be seen wearing the heart-warming nod to her grandparents as she arrived for the vigil at Westminster Hall, which saw her stand beside her six cousins and younger brother James, last week.

Louise is currently 15th in line to the throne, behind her younger brother, as they were both born before the 2013 Succession to the Crown Act, which officially ended the centuries-old rule that male offspring take precedence over females.

The Queen was quite very fond of Louise and her young brother, with one source telling the Sun : “The Queen loves the fact that Louise and James relish their time at Balmoral, and she has become particularly close to Louise, who seems to have become her favourite grandchild, closely followed by James.

“Louise also endeared herself to everyone by looking after William and Kate’s children when they were up here. "Louise loves drawing and sketching and was very patiently trying to get Charlotte to do pictures of rabbits and deer.

"Because of her obvious artistic skill, the Queen allowed Louise to look through some of the collection of Queen Victoria’s Highlands sketches which are kept at Balmoral but are rarely dug out these days.”
