Carlos Alcaraz advanced to the Queen’s quarter-finals after an impressive straight-sets win over Jiri Lehecka. The 20-year-old Spaniard looked much more comfortable on the grass than in his opening victory over the Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, where he lost the first set, but there were no blips this time as the top seed cruised to a 6-2 6-3 win.
It comes after a major shock at Queen’s, with the American star and third seed Taylor Fritz stunned by France’s Adrian Mannarino in straight sets. Alex de Minaur, who knocked out Andy Murray in straight sets on Tuesday, continued his impressive form as he defeated the Argentine Diego Schwartzman.
De Minaur will face Mannarino in the quarter-finals on Friday, with Alcaraz taking on either Grigor Dimitrov or Francisco Cerundolo, who meet in the final match of the second round. The British No 1 Cameron Norrie will take on American Sebastian Korda.
