Queen Elizabeth’s 185-year-old christening robe goes on display for first time

Queen Elizabeth II's christening robe, worn by 62 royal babies including herself, is to go on public display for the first time.
The 185-year-old robe, originally made for Princess Victoria in 1841, will be featured in the Queen Elizabeth II: Her Life in Style exhibition.
The exhibition opens at The King's Gallery in Buckingham Palace on 10 April and will run until 18 October 2026.
It marks what would have been the monarch's 100th birthday and will showcase approximately 200 items from her fashion archive.
The historic garment recently underwent 100 hours of conservation work; a replica was commissioned in 2004 for subsequent royal christenings.
