Millions of people tuned in to watch the King's proclamation this morning in a historic Accession Council ceremony. The former Prince of Wales was formally given his regal name as King Charles III and signed an oath in front of more than 200 privy councillors.
It's the first time that an Accession Council has been televised, as King Charles was joined by Prince William and Queen Consort Camilla for the momentous occasion. Privy council members included a string of top politicians both past and present, including Boris Johnson, David Cameron and Theresa May. Prime Minister Liz Truss was also in attendance as the new King vowed to honour and serve the nation as head of the state.

To honour the Queen's passing, everyone in attendance wore black as the nation continues its 17-day mourning period.
Queen Consort Camilla was seen wearing an elegant dress with simple embroidery detailing around the scalloped neckline and long sleeves.
For jewellery, she donned her signature four-strand pearl necklace and paired them with matching pearl earrings to watch her husband formally become King.
The statement necklace is a firm favourite for the Queen Consort, and it holds sentimental meaning which is fitting for such a momentous occasion.
Camilla wore the same four-string set of pearls yesterday as she greeted thousands of royal fans at Buckingham Palace with King Charles.
Adorned with a unique fitted clasp at the front, Camilla also wore the necklace for a portrait image taken to mark her 14th wedding anniversary, giving her jewellery choice even more meaning.
The elegant pearls have reportedly been part of the Queen Consort's collection for many years and have become her go-to for big events and special occasions.
Camilla also wore a blue Van Cleef & Arpels bracelet at the Accession Council ceremony.
Outside of being synonymous with Charles and Camilla's anniversary portrait, the decision to wear pearls is also a fitting ode to Queen Elizabeth II.
Pearls are often referred to as 'mourning jewellery', a royal tradition that stems from Queen Victoria.
Queen Consort Camilla isn't the only royal who has been spotted wearing pearls since the Queen's passing, as the newly-appointed Princes of Wales also wore simple pearl earrings yesterday.
The grieving Princess was photographed driving in Windsor wearing a black jumper and black sunglasses, wearing 18ct drop pearl earrings - a pair that she has worn regularly on other occasions.
