Queen Camilla's Coronation outfit included nod to beloved rescue dogs as viewers spot sweet detail

The world was watching yesterday as King Charles and Queen Camilla were officially crowned - and despite the formality of the occasion, the royals managed to include some heartfelt personal touches on the day.

As Camilla was crowned in the regal ceremony at Westminster Abbey, some eagle-eyed viewers watching at home spotted a heartwarming detail on the Queen's outfit. Camilla wore a white dress with gold embroidery which was specially made for the occasion - and appeared to include a nod to her beloved rescue dogs, who were stitched in gold on her skirt.

Camilla is the proud owner of two Jack Russells, Beth and Bluebell, who were both adopted from Battersea Dogs and Cats home by the royal back in 2017. Before coming to live in luxury at Clarence House, Camilla's four-legged friends had heartbreaking backstories, The Mirror reports.

Speaking previously to BBC Radio 5 Live, Camilla said: "Along I went to Battersea, and Beth appeared, and she had just been moved from pillar to post and dumped. We thought it would be nice for her to have a friend.

"They found [Bluebell] two or three weeks later, wandering about in woods, no hair on her, covered in sores, virtually dead. And they nursed her back to life and her hair grew again. She's very sweet, but a tiny bit neurotic, shall we say."

Battersea pointed out the sweet detail on Twitter, writing: "Did anyone spot HM Queen Camilla's Battersea dogs embroidered into her Coronation dress?!" The rescue centre added: We're so grateful for the Royal Family's continued support of our work," sharing snaps of Camilla with late TV star and animal lover Paul O'Grady.

Paul, who sadly died last month at the age of 67, shared a "special relationship" with Queen Camilla, saying that he always had a "great laugh" with the royal and describing her as "a lovely lady who's passionate about dogs". The pair filmed a Christmas special of Paul's show For the Love of Dogs last year, which saw Camilla join him to help find homes for some of Battersea's animals.

Coronation viewers were touched by Camilla's tribute to her dogs. "What a wonderful thing to do," one fan wrote on Twitter. Someone else added: "How absolutely lovely, such a sweet touch."
