Separatists won provincial elections in Quebec on Monday, with a promise to hold a vote on leaving Canada after US President Donald Trump leaves office, testing Prime Minister Mark Carney's message of national unity.

According to preliminary results, the Parti Quebecois (PQ) won 59 of the 127 seats in the National Assembly, followed by the Quebec Liberal Party (PLQ) on 40 seats.
