Quarter of London local roads in 'poor state' as cost of fixing potholes hits £1billion

Nearly a quarter of all London local authority roads are in a “poor” condition, with the cost of bringing pothole-plagued roads up to scratch at £1bn, new research has found.

A report by the Asphalt Industry Alliance (AIA) said London motorists could expect more misery as 23% of the local road network – equivalent to 2,100 miles – has less than five years’ structural life remaining.
