One of the choices that had been lost in the apparently endless race to reduce family chocolate selection sizes especially at Christmas has been brought back to Quality Street tins ahead of the festive season. According to the manufacturers, the retro honeycomb crunch flavour will return — but only to some tubs and tins.
It was axed in 2018 but many fans of the sweet will be relieved to see its return. It comes months after a vote from consumers revealed their favourite retro flavour which sadly had been discontinued — but it wasn't the honeycomb.
A poll of tens of thousands revealed that the coffee creme was the one fans wanted back. Emily Grimbley, assistant brand manager for Quality Street said at the time: "Many Quality Street fans have an old favourite, and our survey has shown that when it comes to our sweets, absence really does make the heart grow fonder.
"Although the coffee creme hasn't featured in the mix since the turn of the millennium, it’s clear that it still holds a special place in the nation’s heart." In addition to the return of the honeycomb crunch, High street department store John Lewis said it was bringing back its Quality Street pick 'n' mix stands in the run-up to Christmas.
Quality Street senior brand manager Jemma Handley said: "We are delighted to announce the return of our beloved pick and mix stations at John Lewis for 2022, complete with a delicious new flavour sweet. Best of all, you can tailor the contents precisely to your liking, whether that means nothing but purple ones, a tin full of the new honeycomb crunches, or a feast of fruit crèmes."
