The second round of group stage matches are underway with hosts Qatar kicking off their second ever FIFA World Cup match at the Al Thumama Stadium as they welcome Senegal. Neither side got off to the best start in Group A with both sides picking up 2-0 defeats against their opening opponents.
The African Cup of Nations champions are the favourites with Betfred at 7/10 ahead of this tie while the hosts are 5/1 outsiders and a draw is 13/5. This will be the first meeting of any kind between Qatar and Senegal with the African side facing the host nation in a FIFA World Cup.
Qatar suffered a 2-0 defeat to Ecuador thanks to a brace from captain and all-time leading goalscorer Enner Valencia while Senegal lost to a below-par Netherlands late on. Davy Klaassen and Cody Gakpo were the scorers in that Group A match to set up a must-win match for these two nations to keep their hopes of staying in the World Cup alive.
