PV Sindhu spotted with strange device on forehead at BWF World Championships 2026: What is Temple and how does it work?

PV Sindhu has been seen wearing a small device on her forehead while competing at the BWF World Championships 2026 in New Delhi, drawing attention to the unusual wearable. Called Temple, the device sits along the side of the forehead and is designed to collect data related to blood flow and oxygen levels in the brain.

What Is Temple Wearable?

Temple is a compact wearable that attaches to the side of the forehead. Unlike conventional fitness trackers that are typically worn on the wrist, the device is designed to monitor signals associated with brain activity. Its focus includes cerebral blood flow and oxygenation, providing data related to how the brain is functioning.

The wearable has also attracted attention because it was developed by Deepinder Goyal. Goyal previously discussed Temple on Raj Shamani’s Figuring Out podcast, where he spoke about the device and its focus on monitoring brain health.

How Is Temple Different From Smartwatches?

Most popular fitness wearables, including smartwatches, primarily track metrics such as heart rate, movement and sleep. Temple takes a different approach by positioning its sensors on the forehead to collect information linked to cerebral blood flow and oxygenation.

How Could It Help Athletes?

For professional athletes, access to additional physiological data could potentially provide insights into areas such as training load, recovery, sleep and focus.

By monitoring signals associated with the brain, the wearable is intended to offer information that conventional wrist-based fitness trackers may not directly measure.

Is Temple Available to Buy?

Temple is currently described as an experimental wearable and is not available for general purchase.

PV Sindhu’s Historic Badminton Achievements

PV Sindhu remains one of India’s most accomplished badminton players. She became the first Indian to win the BWF World Championships and the first Indian woman to win two Olympic medals, cementing her place among the country’s leading sporting stars.
