Putney: Shocking moment two teenagers spotted 'bus surfing' in south London

This is the shocking moment two young Londoners were spotted “surfing” on the back of a double-decker bus in south west London.

Two young people - believed to teenagers -were spotted clinging onto the back of the 85 bus travelling down Putney Hill at around 4pm from Wimbledon Village on Tuesday August 20.

A witness, Gareth Richman, who filmed the incident, told the Standard: “Both kids were hanging from the back of the bus holding on to it whilst moving”.

The witness added the move was “crazy” saying: “They seemed to be enjoying it despite the danger.

“I’ve seen similar moves by kids on the Nile in Egypt using boats to ferry them down the river and thought that was a bit mad.

“This was something quite unexpected which could have resulted in pretty serious consequences.”

Earlier this summer a teenager was spotted hitching a risky ride on the back of the number 90 bus in his flip flops.

The teen held onto the back of a bus on Lansbury Drive in Hayes, west London.

Transport for London and bus operator RATP Dev both declined to comment.
