Putin could test Nato’s unity with limited attack on member, US intelligence warns

  • US intelligence assessments have reportedly warned that Vladimir Putin could test Nato ’s unity with a limited attack on an alliance member within the next few years.
  • According to US officials cited in the Wall Street Journal, scenarios under consideration include cyberattacks , sabotage or a small-scale ground incursion.
  • Ukraine said it launched long-range strikes on Russian energy and maritime targets, meanwhile Kyiv observed a day of mourning for victims of Russia’s latest missile and drone attack.
  • German authorities say a potentially catastrophic attack may have been narrowly prevented after an explosive-laden drone was discovered at Leipzig Airport.
  • Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said the country is accelerating the development of its own ballistic missile programme and aims to achieve “concrete results” by the end of 2026 in developing a European anti-ballistic missile defence system.
