The door has closed on one of most eventful years in recent memory in the UK. Covid restrictions may have subsided during 2022, but the country wasn't short of headlines.
The last 12 months saw three Prime Ministers. Boris Johnson left in scandal after a string of controversies and blink-and-you-miss-her Liz Truss became the shortest serving PM before Rishi Sunak took over the reigns - all within two months.
The year also saw both the Platinum Jubilee and the death of Queen Elizabeth II. For both occasions, Nottinghamshire came out in full force, holding street parties for the former and leaving tributes for the latter.

Sadly, as we enter 2023 there are not many things to be cheery about. All these events happened as Russia continued to wage a horrific war in Ukraine, following the launch of the invasion towards the start of 2022.
The cost of living crisis also continues to rip through the UK, leaving many cold and with little money this winter. 2022 was an exceptionally busy year for sport.
Everything felt all too familiar when England's hopes of World Cup success were dashed by France in Qatar. However, sporting success was achieved by the women in the EFA Women's Euros, as well as closer to home.
