Pictures show the extent of a pipe burst on a residential road in Nottinghamshire which caused 'pure chaos' and sent water shooting into the air. Officials from Anglian Water apologised for the disruption and said the burst water main had been caused by 'third party damage'.
The issue has been resolved and water is back on for local residents. Witness Angela Baildon said debris was "sent flying" during the incident in Thrumpton Lane, Retford, thought to have happened at around 5pm on Tuesday (October 25).
She said: "It was quite concerning to see it arriving home from work. The road was blocked off and it's pure chaos as there are no traffic lights. It's a good job that schools are off this week."

Lincolnshire Live reports water had been sent shooting into the air for more than an hour before the water company was made aware. Ms Baildon added she arrived home at around 6pm and was the first to report it to Anglian Water.
Officials later arrived to repair the pipe. Much of the street, including the pavement, had already been cordoned off by workers from both the water company and gas workers prior to the pipe exploding, witnesses said.
An Anglian Water spokeswoman said: “We are sorry for any disruption caused to customers in the Retford area, near Thrumpton Lane. Our teams had to carry out essential repair work to a burst water main caused by third party damage, which has now been resolved.
"Now that the water is back, it may look cloudy – this is perfectly normal. It’s just millions of tiny air bubbles trapped in the pipe. If you run the tap briefly or leave the water to stand in a glass, it will soon clear. Again, we’re really sorry for the inconvenience this has caused and we’d like to thank customers for their patience."
