Prime Minister Rishi Sunak watched Wales' nailbiting clash with England with pupils from a Valleys school, as the Welsh football team crashed out of their first World Cup in 64 years. Pupils from Porth Community School in Rhondda Cynon Taff were invited to Number 10 Downing Street to watch the game alongside English children.
Wales failed to progress through the group stage of the tournament after a 3 - 0 loss to England saw them finish bottom of Group B, bringing an end to their time in Qatar. Before the team made their way to the Middle East, Rhondda-born Wales manager Rob Page stayed true to his roots as he named his World Cup squad at the Memorial Hall in his hometown of Tylorstown.
But the group of school pupils had quite a different experience on Tuesday night watching the game from one of the world's most famous houses alongside the Prime Minister. Pupils from grassroots football academy Omonia Youth FC based in London were also invited.

Commiserating the Welsh team after their loss the Prime Minister said Rob Page's team had "inspired millions". Rishi Sunak's Twitter account tweeted: "Great to catch #WALENG this evening with @OmoniaYouthFC and Porth Community School.
"Well done England on a strong performance and for progressing to the knockout stages. Rob Page’s team have inspired millions across Wales and beyond. They can also be very proud tonight."
Porth Community School which has pupils from aged 3 to 16 said : "An amazing evening! At number 10 with the PM! Thanks you for the opportunity and experience!" as they documented the trip to London with a series of photographs where pupils were dressed to the nines in their Welsh flags and bucket hats.
Yvonne Jones, Headteacher at Porth Community School, said: “This will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our learners. Not only will they be watching Wales compete in their first World Cup tournament since 1958, but they will be watching this historic game inside 10 Downing Street.
“We were delighted to receive this invitation, and we hope for a winning result tonight, which will see Wales progress in the World Cup. We send our best wishes to Rhondda’s own Rob Page and the whole Wales squad.”
