Pupils and parents in for ‘shock’ as 300,000 fewer expected to get top GCSE grades

Pupils and parents are due for a "shock" this week as 300,000 fewer top GCSE grades could be awarded.

Exams regulator Ofqual said a return to pre-pandemic grading means this year’s national GCSE results in England will be lower than last year and similar to levels in 2019 before the pandamic.
