Shocking scenes were witnessed at the races when a punter hurled a pint at horses competing in a race.
The man threw his drink towards the runners as they crossed the line in the 3.06pm contest at Yarmouth on Sunday. Sky Sports Racing cameras captured the moment it happened during the race won by Captain Kane.
Jockey Daniel Muscutt had driven the 9-2 shot out towards the finish of the Richard Delf Memorial Handicap, chased by favourite Genesius (5-2f). Just as they completed the 1m 3½f distance, along with their three rivals, the punter's drink went flying into the air.
Dressed in a polo neck t-shirt and jeans, the man's sunglasses came dislodged in the incident, as he tossed the liquid forward and up to a great height.
The pint did not connect with any of the horses and jockeys, who were a short distance away, running alongside the far rail. Fellow racegoers, stood in front of the man, did not appear to notice the act shown in the clip on social media.
It is understood that efforts were made by staff to look for the individual responsible, however they were unable to locate him.
A spokesman for the owners of Yarmouth Racecourse, Arena Racing Company, said: "The racecourse team were aware of the issue, and security looked to identify the man in question within the crowd throughout the afternoon.
"Suffice to say, behaviour such as this is not acceptable and anyone acting as such will not be welcome at any ARC venue in the future.”
Racing fans were disgusted by the man's actions, which comes just months after a similar incident at Fairyhouse in Ireland. It was again at the end of a race, appearing to be a reaction to the result, as Grand Paradis finished third behind 5-6 market leader Jungle Boogie.
"Should be banned for life at every track," one suggested about the most recent culprit.
Another wrote: "So dangerous…this idiot needs finding & banning from all racecourses."
And a third added: "I bet he feels extremely stupid right now. What a absolute tool."
