JALANDHAR: Going by social media, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) seems to have gained in perception from Mansa MLA Vijay Singla’s arrest, and removal as the health minister, for alleged corruption. The party, which came to power in Punjab two months ago, has also managed to counter questions being asked over its poll promises and performance.
Several AAP critics have also appreciated CM Bhagwant Mann’s move of setting a precedent and apparently sending a strong signal to ministers, MLAs and official machinery. “Kaan tangna” (to hang a crow after killing it to frighten other birds) has become a common phrase to describe the action. Another common refrain is that other wrongdoers in the government and party would also be “hanged” too.
