BATHINDA: In a setback for Sanyukt Samaj Morcha, the political front of some Punjab farm unions, two of its candidates have withdrawn from contesting assembly elections. SSM candidate from Bathinda district’s Rampura Phul assembly segment Jaskaran Singh Buttar retired from the field and announced support for AAP on Tuesday. Its Mansa nominee Gurnam Singh Bhikhi had withdrawn on Sunday. He is associated with Punjab Kisan Union.
Jaskaran Singh Buttar stepped down as the SSM candidate just hours before AAP’s chief ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann visited Rampura Phul to campaign for his party’s candidate Balkar Singh.
