Punjab: Minor brought for job from Bathinda, raped in Kharar

MOHALI: Two men allegedly raped a minor girl brought to Kharar on the pretext of a job from Bathinda, police said on Sunday after booking the two and a woman in the case.

Police said the rape survivor in her complaint said she used to live with her maternal aunt in Bathinda. A few days back, one Jaspal Kaur of a village in Mansa came to stay with their neighbor and started visiting them frequently. After learning the family was struggling to meet both ends, she offered a job to the minor girl in Kharar. The family allowed her to take the girl.

At Kharar bus stand, two acquaintances of Jaspal Kaur picked her up and took her to a flat. Jaspal Kaur met and told her would be going for night duty, the girl alleged.

The two men came to the house the next day and allegedly raped her. The girl said she somehow managed to flee and boarded a bus to Bathinda.

She narrated the incident to her maternal aunt who approached the police. The girl was admitted to civil hospital, Bathinda, where her medical examination confirmed rape. She is still under treatment, said police.

Police registered a case under sections 376, 377, 506 and 120-B of the Indian Penal Code and sections of Prevention of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

(The victim's identity has not been revealed to protect her privacy as per Supreme court directives on cases related to sexual assault)
