Punjab government advises people to wear masks again

CHANDIGARH: With neighbouring Haryana recording a steep surge in Covid-19 cases, the Punjab government on Thursday advised its residents to wear masks in crowded places.

Haryana on Tuesday had reported 310 cases, the highest since the third wave subsided, while 30 persons were tested positive in Punjab. Chandigarh administration, earlier this week, had also advised its residents to wear masks.

The advisory regarding the wearing of masks issued by the Punjab home department stated: “In view of increasing number of Covid cases in some of the states and UTs, all the residents of the state of Punjab are hereby advised to wear face masks in the crowded places.”

People have been asked to ensure the wearing of masks in closed environments like public transport like buses, trains, aircraft, taxis, cinema halls, shopping malls, departmental stores, classrooms, office rooms and indoor gatherings.
