AMRITSAR: Former deputy chief minister of Punjab O P Soni claims to have received threat calls on his personal WhatsApp number from three different mobile numbers.
According to police reports Soni had claimed that the caller had demanded money from him and had threatened him and his family members of dire consequences in case their demand was not fulfilled.
In the recent past, former Akali MLA Amarpal Singh Bony had also received threat calls from gangsters.
Soni, a senior Congress leader is in politics for the past 35 years and was among 424 persons whose security was curtailed in the recent past by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government.
Police have registered a case under section 387, 506 IPC at police station Cantonment and begun investigations.
Police sources informed that Soni had demanded adequate security for himself and his family members. Eom
