LUDHIANA: A state of shock enveloped a family in Punjab's Khanna following the tragic shooting death of 58-year-old Gurdev Singh in Manila, Philippines.
Gurdev, engaged in the finance business, had been residing in Manila for about two years. Lakhveer Singh Bhatti, the deceased's brother-in-law, revealed that Gurdev was fatally shot on Saturday at 4 pm.
Gurdev's family urgently appealed to the government for assistance in repatriating his body for proper last rites. Survived by his wife, son, two daughters, and a daughter-in-law, Gurdev's untimely demise has left the family in profound shock.
Lakhvir Singh, recounting the family's connection to Manila, mentioned that Gurdev's son had preceded him to the Philippines. The Municipal Councillor of the area, Harjit Singh Bhatia, expressed his grief over the incident, emphasizing Gurdev Singh's amiable personality during his long-standing residency of 25 to 30 years in the community.
Bhatia urged the Punjab government and the Union Ministry of External Affairs to extend support in bringing Gurdev's body back from Manila, marking it as a painful incident that demands immediate attention.
