CHANDIGARH: Hours before campaigning drew to a close on Friday, the Congress released its brief 13-point manifesto for the Punjab assembly elections scheduled for Sunday, promising one lakh government jobs, Rs 1,100 per month to women, eight free cooking gas cylinders per year and a vow to end ‘mafia raj’ in sand, liquor, and cable businesses.
Putting up a united front, chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu held a joint press conference to unveil the document. Chairman of the campaign committee Sunil Jakhar too joined in just before Channi left to catch a flight.
