Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar hails PM Modi's policies; terms victory in MP, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan as 'severe blow to opposition'

CHANDIGARH: Punjab BJP president Sunil Jakhar stated on Sunday that his party's resounding victories in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan were a ''severe blow to the opposition'' and a decisive endorsement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's policies.

Interacting with the media after the results, Jakhar took a dig at the Congress and AAP, claiming that their "false promises, intimidation, and derogatory language" had failed to entice the voters "who wanted economic development and saw how the PM had protected national interests". He said: "This vote is to the PM’s policies, character, commitment, and leadership."

He said his unit will take Modi’s vision across the state to rout the Congress and AAP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Asked about the future of the Punjab Congress, Jakhar said: "It will be wiped out in Punjab and its hyped INDIA bloc of the central opposition will be in tatters. The country needs economic and social stability, and only the BJP delivers what it promises."

Jakhar accused AAP of looting a state that was in economic crisis. He alleged that: "Punjab wasted a phenomenal amount of its money on AAP’s publicity. It’s a misfortune that we are governed by novices who squander our resources. Every penny will be accounted for if we return to office."

About the recent episode where chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had used foul works for former Shiromani Akali Dal minister Bikramjit Singh Majithia’s wife, Ganieve Majithia, Jakhar said: "It is most unfortunate, as Punjabis never target women despite severe differences."
