Hoshiarpur: Tragedy struck at village Ramdaspur last night, as a younger brother stands accused of the brutal murder of his elder brother over financial disputes.
DSP Harjit Singh, said on Wednesday that Manpreet Singh allegedly took the life of his elder sibling Manjot Singh (22) by slashing his throat with a sharp-edged weapon at their residence last night.
Investigations revealed a harrowing tale of familial struggle. Following the demise of their parents, both Manjot and Manpreet were raised by their grandmother. The responsibility of providing for the family fell on the shoulders of Manjot, who worked as the sole bread winner.
However, the family's peace was shattered by the younger brother's alleged descent into drug addiction. Manpreet frequently demanded money from Manjot, who refused due to his brother's alleged destructive habits.
On the fateful night of March 12, Manpreet allegedly committed the heinous act while Manjot
was asleep in their home. Subsequently, Manpreet fled the scene.
