CHANDIGARH: As many as 158 murders took place in Punjab this year, in almost 100 days, which comes to an average of 50 murders per month.
Sharing this data, Punjab DGP V K Bhawra said on Monday that the state witnessed 724 murders last year and 757 in 2020, making the monthly average of murders to 60 in 2021 and 63 in 2020. He said though the crime rate has marginally decreased in the state this year as compared to previous years, the police would try its best to bring down the crime rate. He also solicited the support and cooperation of the public to further bring down the crime graph.
