PUNE: A 28-year-old woman was killed after an unknown vehicle hit her scooter at Dukkar Khind near Chandni Chowk along the Katraj-Dehu Road Bypass on Wednesday afternoon.
Police said victim Priyanka Ankush Mahajan of Ambegaon was on her way for a job interview in Katraj. The Warje Malwadi police on Thursday registered a case against the driver of the unknown vehicle for causing death by negligence.
Sachin Dhotre, a constable attached to the Warje Malwadi police who reached the spot immediately after the accident, told TOI, “When I reached the spot, I found that the woman was lying unconscious with head injuries. She was not wearing the helmet,” he said.
“On Wednesday afternoon, the woman had an appointment for a job interview. She had dropped her brother in Warje and was heading towards Chandni Chowk, when the accident happened,” Dhotre said.
He said, “We suspect that some vehicle might have dashed the woman’s scooter, due to which she lost her balance and fell down. We have started collecting CCTV footage to identify the vehicle involved in the accident.”
