Pune: Virtual friend, 3 aides extort Rs 55,000 from MBA student

PUNE: The Khadak police on Tuesday night arrested four men on the charge of wrongfully confining an MBA student in a room at Nana Peth and extorting Rs 55,689 from him by using the latter's UPI application between 2am and 7am on Wednesday.

Senior inspector Shrihari Bahirat and his team arrested Sahil Qureshi (23), Aniket Jadhav (23), Sudama Choudhari (22) and Rohit Chavan (23), all residents of Nana Peth and Rasta Peth, after securing details of the bank account to which the UPI transfer was made. "Sahil Qureshi is a criminal on police record.. Jadhav was booked in a case of robbery registered with the Samarth police," he said.
