PUNE: A Haveli police team on Monday arrested the owner of a packers and movers firm on the charge of cheating and trying to extort Rs47,000 from a 41-year-old professional photographer on Saturday.
Sub-inspector RR Mohite of the Haveli police said the firm owner had agreed to shift the complainant’s belongings from Pune to Nagpur for Rs28,000.
On June 3, the photographer’s belongings were picked up from his rented accommodation in Nanded City after he paid Rs20,000 in advance.
The firm owner then called the photographer and demanded Rs47,000 more for insurance, GST and packing charges. He said the truck had reached Ahmednagar and he would dump the luggage on the road if the extra money was not paid.
