Pune: Moneylender collects Rs 15 lakh against Rs 5 lakh loan, demands Rs 8 lakh more; held

PUNE: The city crime branch has arrested an unauthorised money lender after a Yerawada-based event management businessman lodged a complaint accusing him of collecting Rs15 lakh so far against a Rs5 lakh loan taken in 2019 and continuing to demand Rs8 lakh more.

Crime branch inspector Jayant Rajurkar on Wednesday said, "Riyaz Ahmed Mohammed Ali Shaikh (38) said in his complaint with the Yerawada police that he had taken Rs5 lakh loan from Chandannagar resident Datta Gokul Waghmare (29) to buy electronic goods for his business."
