Pune: Happy streets enthralls Aundh with yoga, Zumba

PUNE: The streets of Aundh came alive with dance, music and revelry for three hours on the final Sunday of Happy Streets in the area. Traffic made way for fun and games on ITI Road as traffic fumes dissipated and joy filled the air. The road was buzzing with thousands of citizens enjoying Zumba, yoga, meditation, cycling and singing while children painted the streets as a canvas.

Bhavana Shah, a resident, said Happy Streets has given people the option of using their streets better. "Such events are the need of the hour for our cities to become more livable," she said. Swapnil Patil, another resident, said the event let them start Sunday on a fresh note. "This has changed our whole perspective towards seeing routine things differently," he said.

Happy Streets, an initiative by The Times of India and Maharashtra Times encourages people to use non-motorised transport. The event was organised in association with Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Pune Police, Pune traffic police and sponsored by Vilas Javdekar Developers.

Kharadi will be the next host on the upcoming Sunday for the event.
