Pune: Convict on Covid parole doesn't return to jail; booked

PUNE: The Lonikand police on Friday booked a 27-year-old murder convict on the charge of not returning to the jail to serve his remaining sentence almost a year (360 days) after he was released on emergency parole because of the Covid-19 outbreak.

This is the first such case registered by the Yerawada Central Prison, which has issued notices to convicts and undertrial prisoners to return to the jail following the end of emergency parole or bail period.
