The Education Department in Puducherry has announced a two-day holiday for 69 government and private schools that have been designated as examination centres for the Integrated Graduate Level Examination. The selected schools will remain closed on August 21 and August 22 to facilitate preparations for the exam.
The examination is scheduled to take place from August 21 to August 23. As the identified schools will serve as examination venues, authorities have ordered the temporary closure to ensure that all necessary arrangements can be completed.
Students at these schools will therefore get three consecutive days off, including Sunday.
69 Schools Selected As Examination Centres
Of the 69 examination centres, 53 are located in the Puducherry region, while eight schools in Karaikal, three in Mahe and five in Yanam have also been selected.
Some of the schools identified in the Puducherry region include Annai Sivagami Government School, V.O.C. Government School, Galve Chellan School, Uzhavarkarai Government Boys' Higher Secondary School, Elango Adigal School, Jeevanandam School, Manimekalai School, Navalar School, Pandit Duraisamy Government High School, Savarirayalu Nayak School, Chinnaththa Government School, Thiruvalluvar School and Murugambakkam Government School.
Holiday Announced For Examination Arrangements
The two-day closure has been announced specifically for schools being used as examination centres.
The Education Department has said that alternative working days will be announced later to make up for the two-day holiday. Students and parents should follow further instructions from their respective schools regarding the replacement working days.
Holiday Not Applicable To All Puducherry Schools
The holiday does not apply to every school in Puducherry. The August 21 and 22 closure is restricted to the 69 government and private schools selected as examination centres for the Integrated Graduate Level Examination.
