Charities have benefited from a sell-out double opening of The Garden of Cosmic Speculation at Portrack near Dumfries.
The privately-owned garden was opened on Saturday and Sunday at reduced times spread over the two days to help the Scotland’s Garden scheme charity initiative.
Among those to benefit will be Maggies’ Cancer centres which were founded by the late Maggie Keswick Jencks at her Portrack family home.
The world-famous garden “uses nature to celebrate nature, both intellectually and through the senses, including the sense of humour” over 30 acres with landforms, sculpture, terraces, bridges, fences and architectural works.
It was designed by the world-renowned land artist, the late Charles Jencks.
However, the Jencks family also wanted to make sure some Dumfriesshire residents could enjoy a visit for a reduced price and there was a huge response to their first-come-first-served offer.
