A pub has announced with a "heavy heart" that it will close its doors this weekend.
The Phoenix in Southport will serve its final drink this Saturday and has invited customers to come along for its "final farewell". In September of last year it was announced that the pub on Coronation Walk had been put up for sale despite it still being open.
The pub becomes the latest to close in the town, last month it was revealed that Wetherspoons would be shutting the Willow Grove on Lord Street. The Phoenix thanked customers for their support over the years saying "we couldn’t" have got "this far without you all."

Since the news broke on Facebook regulars have shared their disappointment at the pub's closure. One person said: "Dear Chris and Teresa and team Phoenix sad your hard work and providing a great bar/restaurant supporting the local community with a warm welcoming friendly bar to visit. Sad days wishing you better times ahead.
Another person commented: "So sad to see this go. We come in to watch the footy and the girls behind the bar are ace, particularly Jo and Anne, or as my friend calls her Jack (of all trades!) she's always fixing the tv for us! Good luck with what everyone is going on to do."
The post on their Facebook page said: "As you all may of heard by now it is with heavy hearts and tears in our eyes, we will be closing our doors after this weekend. We would love to thank all our customers for your support over the years we couldn’t of gotten this far without you all.
"So please join us tonight with Wendy for her final karaoke evening from 9pm. And tomorrow night karaoke, our final farewell with the boss himself Chris, and Danny from 9pm. Come celebrate the years we have had and make some final memories. We will miss you all from all at The Phoenix".
