Psychology says people who wear fancy clothes at home may be doing more than looking good

For some people, getting dressed is part of starting the day, even when there is nowhere to go. They may put on a stylish dress, a well-fitted shirt, coordinated jewellery or even an outfit they would normally reserve for going out. While others immediately reach for old T-shirts and comfortable shorts, these people seem to enjoy being properly dressed even inside their own homes.

Psychology suggests this habit may have less to do with impressing other people and more to do with self-perception, identity, mood regulation and psychological cues.
