A psychologist testifying for the defense said Wednesday that Lindsay Clancy was unable to understand the “wrongfulness” of killing her three children because of her mental health conditions.
Dr. Paul Zeizel’s testimony is the strongest evidence yet supporting the defense’s argument that Clancy should not be held legally responsible for the murders. Her lawyers say she was suffering from bipolar disorder and a rare condition known as postpartum psychosis when she killed her three children before attempting to kill herself. Zeizel began treating Clancy in the hospital following the deaths.
