PSV star left in awe by 'amazing' Rangers fans as he makes 'one hundred per cent support' claim

A PSV star was left in awe by the 'amazing' Rangers fans who supported their team 'one hundred percent' during last night's Champions League showdown at Ibrox.

A four goal-thriller saw both teams find the back of the net twice as the first-leg ended in a draw to leave the tie on a knife edge heading into the return meeting.

Ibrahim Sangaré opened the scoring for the visitors before Antonio Colak popped up to superbly turn home a lovely low ball from skipper James Tavernier to level the scoring on the night. Tom Lawrence then fired home from a long-range free-kick after a howler from Walter Benitez in the Dutch goal but his blushes were spared by Armando Obispo. And Mexico international Érick Gutiérrez, who played the full 90 minutes for Ruud van Nistelrooy's side, was blown away by the atmosphere and support from the Gers fans - and said his struggled to adapt to it in the first half.

Speaking to TNT Sports México after the game, the 27-year-old midfielder - who has been linked with a move to the Premier League with Fulham - said: "The first half we were a bit sloppy due to the issue of adapting to the environment, it was amazing here, the fans support [their team] one hundred percent, I think that in the second half, despite the goal we received, we kept calm, we knew how to play and we took a good result home with us."

And Gutiérrez reiterated how good a result it was for his PSV side to come away with a draw in a stadium he says himself and his team-mates knew would be "very difficult" to play in, adding: "Yes they are strong, you have to go in to challenges one hundred percent and try to do the best you can. Like I said, in the second half we played better collectively. And yeah, with these games, now it's up to us to finish it off at home in front of our own fans, we have to play well there.

"We all knew that this stadium would be very difficult, the fans support very well. They [Rangers] are a very intense team that runs for the entire 90 minutes and I think we did very well and we achieved a very good result here."
