PSV fans throw flare at Arsenal supporters as crowd trouble mars Europa League game

Crowd trouble after the full-time whistle marred Arsenal's win over PSV Eindhoven as the Gunners secured their spot in the Europa League knockout stages.

A dominant, if frustrating, display from the hosts eventual bore fruit when Granit Xhaka fired home the only goal with 20 minutes remaining, a fine half-volley for his third goal of the season.

A lively away section turned sour following the game as fans from both sides threatened to clash. Police moved to defuse the situation as objects were thrown between both sections including chairs.

The situation threatened to get out of hand when a flare was launched towards Arsenal fans, though thankfully missed, avoiding serious injury.

Arsenal head to Eindhoven next week needing get a point to secure top spot in Group A. The group winners secure an automatic last-16 spot while the runners-up face one of the third-placed teams dropping down from the Champions League in a two-legged playoff tie in February.
